What could be more romantic than having intimate photos taken with the love of your life in one of the most beautiful places in the world? I was really excited when Stephen and Chandel, whose Irish wedding I have the honour of documenting next year, asked me to come to the West of Ireland with them and do a Cliffs of Moher engagement shoot.
A long-distance relationship is not an easy thing – I know it well from personal experience! It was a joy to watch how happy they were to see each other at last. Usually I’ll give prompts to my couples to get those sweet candid emotions and smiles in the photos, but this time I hardly had to direct them at all! It gave me goosebumps to see Chandel’s happy and serene smile as Stephen took her in his arms… I always feel blessed when I am reminded that my job is getting to witness this amazing connection between two people in love.
I suggested checking out a few other places on the way to the Cliffs of Moher for more photo opportunities. Quite unplanned, we came across an old church ruin and then went to explore Ennistymon falls (unexpectedly flooded!). Finally, we arrived at the Cliffs of Moher which still take my breath away no matter how many times I’ve been there. Everything was perfect: the atmospheric slightly overcast sky, the dramatic cliffs, the wind playing with Chandel’s hair and the lush tall grass. Of course, a Cliffs of Moher engagement shoot always means a long drive but it is worth it… Can’t wait to see this epic couple again next year!
