Nadra had dreamed of a Bridgerton-inspired summer wedding, and Waterford Castle delivered in every way. The rhododendrons were in full bloom, spilling their colour across the grounds. Ireland, true to form, threatened rain, but Nadra had her heart set on an outdoor ceremony in front of the castle, and she wasn’t budging. As if on cue, the clouds parted. The sun came out at exactly the right moment, and they stood in front of those ancient stone walls, surrounded by everyone they loved, and said their vows.

The rest of the day was pure joy – fun, warmth, connection, and the kind of energy that comes when a couple make a day truly theirs and know how to party!

Guest Capacity

Waterford Castle can accommodate up to 120 guests for dinner in the Munster Room and Conservatory, making it a perfect fit for medium-sized weddings – big enough to gather everyone who matters, intimate enough that nothing gets lost in the crowd. The minimum guest number for weekend weddings is 80.

Ceremony Options

Waterford Castle is a fully licensed venue for civil ceremonies and wedding blessings, so you can legally marry on the island without needing to go anywhere else. Ceremonies can take place indoors – in the grand entrance hall in front of the stunning open fireplace – or outdoors on the castle grounds, weather and a certain amount of Irish optimism permitting. A setup fee of €250 applies.

For couples who would prefer a church ceremony, there are local churches nearby in Waterford, with a short ferry crossing back to the castle afterwards.

The castle itself has 19 rooms and suites, including classic rooms, deluxe rooms, deluxe suites, and the Presidential Suite.
