Ballykealey House Wedding

Some wedding venues just have a little extra magic about them—Ballykealey House is definitely one of those places. Nestled in the heart of County Carlow, this stunning 19th-century manor is surrounded by dreamy woodlands, picturesque gardens, and all the charm you’d expect from an Irish countryside estate.
As a wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to capture love stories in some incredible places, but Jordan & Rob’s Ballykealey House wedding was one of those days that just felt extra special. With guests flying in from all over the world, the joy was infectious, the setting was breathtaking, and from start to finish, it was all about celebrating love, family, and fun.
An Irish-American Love Story
Jordan & Rob’s love story brought them across continents, but when it came to their wedding, there was no question—Ireland was the place. Jordan, originally from America, and Rob, an Irishman through and through, wanted a day that reflected not just their love for each other but also their love for their families. With guests traveling from as far as Canada and the U.S., their biggest wish was to bring everyone together in one incredible place.
And honestly? Ballykealey House couldn’t have been a more perfect setting.
The Venue – A Dreamy Woodland Escape

When I asked Jordan & Rob what made Ballykealey House “the one,” their answer was immediate—the gorgeous outdoor spaces, the lush forest, and of course, the twinkling fairy lights.
They wanted a venue that felt relaxed and full of character, and Ballykealey delivered. The estate is a perfect blend of elegance and nature, with its grand manor house, open green spaces, and an intimate woodland setting that makes for the most romantic ceremonies.
Their outdoor woodland ceremony was nothing short of magical. There was soft sunlight filtering through the trees and gorgeous flowers and scents all around as they exchanged vows surrounded by nature and their closest loved ones. It was intimate, heartfelt, and exactly what they had hoped for. There was even a gorgeous black cat who magically appeared at the estate the day before their wedding, and stole everyone’s hearts!
The Reception – Good Food, Good Company, Good Vibes

One of Jordan & Rob’s biggest priorities for their Ballykealy House wedding? Having fun. They wanted a celebration that felt warm, joyful, and centered around the people they love most.
After the ceremony, guests were treated to a drinks reception on the stunning grounds. There was a great Ukulele band, gorgeous canapes and even an ice-cream stand with little treats you could personalize it with. When it started threatening to rain we retreated inside into the cosy bar. And then into the magical ballroom for dinner!

With a reception capacity of up to 275 guests, Ballykealey House can easily accommodate both intimate and larger celebrations. The ballroom is elegant yet inviting, creating the perfect setting for dinner, speeches, and of course, a packed dance floor later in the night!
Photo Opportunities – A Photographer’s Dream

Ballykealey House is an absolute gem when it comes to wedding photography. Every corner of this venue is a backdrop waiting to happen. There are so many gorgeous spots but they are all in close proximity, so we were able to do a quick tour around the beautiful grounds while the dinner orders were being taken.
📸 The Woodland Ceremony Space – The mix of towering trees, soft light, and rustic charm made for the most romantic shots.
📸 The Manor House & Gardens – With its grand stone façade, elegant windows, and classic architecture, the manor itself adds a touch of timeless beauty to wedding portraits.
📸 Fairy Lights at Night – This might be my favorite. As the night falls, the woodland area transforms into something truly magical. Jordan & Rob stole a quiet moment under the twinkling lights, and the resulting photos? Pure romance.
If you’re considering having Ballykealey House wedding, I can’t recommend it enough. The mix of breathtaking scenery, top-notch hospitality, and endless photography opportunities make it one of Ireland’s most special venues.
