Cabra Castle Wedding

Cabra Castle is one of Ireland’s most beloved castle wedding venues – a family-run luxury hotel set on beautiful parkland in Kingscourt, County Cavan, roughly an hour from Dublin. Its combination of historic charm, tranquil gardens and modern comforts makes it a fantastic choice for weddings of all sizes.
For Eilish and Rob the choice was quite obvious: Cabra Castle is a special place full of lovely family memories for Eilish, with Josephine’s Pantry named after her grandmother who worked there for many years. The grounds and castle itself are stunning and the staff are so giving.
They had their wedding on a glorious summer’s day, and their wedding day is still one of the highlights of my year. With golden sunset portraits, deeply emotional moments and a surprise family performance that gave everyone goosebumps, it was a day full of warmth, joy and pure celebration. See for yourself!
Ceremony Spaces — Indoor & Outdoor

Cabra Castle offers several beautiful options for tying the knot:
- The Granary: A stunning, purpose-built ceremony space adjacent to the castle, flooded with light and ideal for both indoor and outdoor vows. It can be dressed beautifully whatever the season.
- The Terrace & Lawns: If you dream of an outdoor ceremony or want an outdoor backdrop for speeches, the lawns and Terrace provide sweeping views of the gardens and countryside – perfect when the weather cooperates.
- Original Ballroom or Ballroom spaces: For couples wanting a classic indoor backdrop with elegant heritage features, these grand spaces are also available.
This flexibility means Cabra works beautifully whether you’re after a refined indoor celebration or a relaxed garden ceremony bathed in natural light.
Accommodation for Cabra Castle Wedding: Stay Where the Magic Happens
One of Cabra Castle’s biggest draws is its on-site guest accommodation, giving couples and their wedding parties a seamless celebration experience. The venue has around 105 bedrooms across several styles: historic castle suites, stylish courtyard rooms, charming cottages, and even the Gate Lodge — perfect for bridal party or family stays.
This means not only your wedding day, but your weekend can become a shared experience with friends and family, from arrival to farewell breakfast. Booking early is key — especially in summer — as rooms do fill up fast on popular dates.
Reception & Guest Capacity

Cabra Castle’s reception setup is tailored to weddings of many sizes, it’s one of the largest castles available in Ireland. It caters perfectly to intimate weddings of 40 in its smaller historic rooms, to up to 260 guests for larger ballroom celebrations.
- The Granary: Can accommodate up to approximately 120 guests for dining and 220 guests for ceremonies, with indoor and outdoor flow.
- Castle Ballroom / Larger Spaces: Ideal if you’re planning a bigger celebration, with capacities up to around 260+ guests — perfect for dinner, dancing and speeches.
Cabra Castle Wedding Pricing & Packages
Wedding costs vary depending on season and guest numbers, but here’s a rough sense of what couples can expect:
- Per person packages: around €109 – €150 per person for food, drinks and reception elements, depending on the season and package level.
- Granary-specific wedding packages: start from around €105 – €125 per adult with minimum guest numbers, depending on day of the week and time of year.
- Venue hire & exclusivity: exclusive use or larger celebrations generally require a package for a minimum number of guests, and some couples opt for dedicated venue hire with bespoke pricing.
Why Cabra Castle Is a Photographer’s Dream
From a photographic point of view, Cabra Castle is a joy:
- The Castle Exterior: Grand stone architecture and manicured gardens set the stage for dramatic couple portraits.
- Tree-lined paths & garden steps: Perfect for relaxed portraits or bridal party photos, especially for the stunning golden hour magic.
- The Terrace & Gardens: The romantic and whimsical front garden is a gorgeous option for a few pre-dinner portraits, just downstairs from your reception.
- Interior details: Historic staircases, antique features, fireplaces and ambient halls offer cozy, timeless indoor shots.
And because the venue’s wide grounds blend formal gardens with untamed beauty, you have options no matter the light or weather conditions.
Eilish & Rob — A Day Full of Light, Love & Unforgettable Moments
Eilish and Rob chose August not just for the warm summer weather, but for the gorgeous light — and it didn’t disappoint. From soft morning light to breathtaking sunset portraits, their images are bathed in colour and warmth.
Their ceremony in The Granary was emotional and heartfelt — tears, laughter and real connection shining through every moment. Later, during the speeches in their reception space, the atmosphere was intimate and joyful, with heartfelt words about family, love and shared futures.
But the moment that still takes my breath away? The dance floor. Eilish’s family secretly arranged a surprise: her dad took up the drums, and her cousin performed Zombie by the Cranberries – a moment that had everyone cheering, laughing, and dancing with pure joy. As a photographer, it was the kind of moment that gives you goosebumps – real, unscripted, and unforgettable.
