When you get to capture a wedding day of two childhood sweethearts, the energy in the room is palpable. Surrounded by friends and family who have known them as a couple since they were 15 years old, they truly tied the knot on that day. And were able to plan a spectacular day all the way from Canada – their latest adventure yet!

They wanted to create an elegant and timeless Dublin city wedding which also didn’t feel too traditional and stuffy but instead filled with love and laughter. Coming home for the wedding also felt like a homecoming, a chance to catch up with family and friends, and to bring everyone they love together. They chose the trendy Mayson Hotel for their stay and evening reception and said their vows in the classic surroundings of the inimitable Dublin City Hall.

I loved the fact that with two separate venues Shianne and Mark were able to create such a fun contrast throughout the day and bring their guests through several different vibes. They loved the historic setting, the grandeur and the sentimental feeling of getting married in the very heart of their hometown. Besides, the gorgeous rotunda needs no decoration, it’s a wow factor on its own!

The Mayson, on the other hand, has this gorgeous mid-century modern decor, with an abundance of tropical plants and rich wood tones. Shianne complimented it with the stunning florals featuring baby’s breath of several shades and some amazing tropical plants. The room was decorated with warm up-lighting, cocktail lamps and a warm feel of a velour bar. And the drinks reception was held in the iconic Bottle Boy – an old-style pub where guests could have pints and Tayto’s after such a grand ceremony. The contrast was unforgettable, and the Canadians loved the authentic Irish charm!

Our Photographer Olga was incredible, aside from meeting with us and discussing exactly
what we wanted and generally just being a lovely person she really captured the magic of the
day – it’s that thing you can’t put into words or describe but you can feel it and remember it
from a beautiful photo. We were blown away by our pictures, they exceeded all of our
expectations and we feel so lucky to have them to look back on forever.

And as for advice? Stay true to yourself and remember – it’s your day to celebrate! And don’t be afraid to veer off from what’s traditionally expected at a wedding. Pick and choose what makes sense for you and your partner!
