The Village Barn is a truly unique family-run wedding venue. Full of festive rustic details and natural light, it’s located behind a local Irish pub in the small traditional town of Tyrrellspass, Co. Westmeath. Looking from the main street you’d have no idea this little hidden gem is there!
The Ins and Outs of the Village Barn Tyrellspass – Where Will My Wedding Take Place?
As you enter the space all your senses light up. Decorated with festive lights and happy colours, the Village Barn is full of different spaces and unique settings. There’s the Barn itself for up to 220 guests, the cosy Orangery to enjoy your drinks reception, a beautiful courtyard and lawn, and its own Sanctuary filled with pews – a perfect setting for your ceremony.
GETTING READY
The Village Barn has plenty of accommodation options both on and off site. Your morning will probably start in the Hill Farm House – a wonderfully restored farm house just a 5-minute drive from the Barn.
Right next to the Barn is the Cosy Cottage – a small self-catering accommodation with 3 bedrooms. It’s perfect for a large family get-together or for one of you to get ready on your wedding morning!
The Farm House is quirky yet modern and really comfortable for your wedding morning. There are five bedrooms for you and your bridal party and a large living room on the ground floor with floor to ceiling windows and plenty of natural light. The space is perfect for getting ready in the morning. Outside the house there’s a Potting Shed which is where the party often relocates from the Barn in the early hours of the morning and where you can also enjoy some Day 2 celebrations!
On their wedding morning Hannah and Eoghan planned to meet in a picturesque forest outside of Tyrrellspass for the first look and some intimate time. The weather decided otherwise! So in the middle of rain and mist the Potting Shed provided great shelter for some raw emotions and a few creative first look portraits!
THE WEDDING CEREMONY
The Sanctuary – a little chapel at the back of the Village Barn – is a gorgeous space for your wedding ceremony. Complete with a PA system, rows of pews and a little balcony, it creates a rustic and intimate backdrop for your vows, and you can decorate it in your own style.
THE DRINKS RECEPTION
Coming out of the Sanctuary, you can head across the lawn straight to the Orangery for your pre-dinner drinks reception. The cosy light-filled space is full of quirky mismatched furnishings, plants and decorations. Outside is a patio area loved by guests both in summer and even in the colder months.
DINNER AT THE BARN
Right beside the Orangery is the Barn itself – a spacious room with large windows, a bar and a stage for your main wedding reception. It’s perfect for both smaller weddings of 50 people and large events of up to 220 guests.
The Village Barn started as a catering business over 25 years ago, so food is truly their passion. You can be certain dinner will be one of the highlights of your night! All ingredients are locally sourced.
There are a lot of options on the menu. Depending on the package you choose, there are both traditional and sharing platter options. The homemade desserts and ice-cream enjoy quite a fame! You can create a real feast for your guests that will also reflect who you are as a couple.
The Village Barn Wedding Packages
The Village Barn is an exclusive wedding venue, so there are two components to the packages. The venue hire fee ranges from €800 to €2,000. The hire fee includes full use of the venue and the grounds on the day of your wedding. Based on your food choices, the various packages start from €70per guest for a meal and ½ bottle of wine.
The accommodation at the Hill Farm House starts at €450/night for its 5 bedrooms (depending on the day and time of year) and the Cosy Cottage is from €200/night with the 3 bedrooms.

Where To Take Photos at the Village Barn Tyrrellspass
The Village Barn is really compact but at the same time full of unique settings, which makes it fantastic for wedding photos. You don’t need to miss the drinks reception driving to a beautiful but remote location. Quirky picturesque backdrops are right on your doorstep! From an apple orchard and beautiful gardens to a romantic cobblestone courtyard decorated with festive lights, there are so many nooks and crannies. And if you crave some nature just take a 5-minute drive to Long Hill Esker forest.
