Wicklow is the Garden of Ireland, and the mountains provide the most amazing backdrop for a chic wedding day. Thankfully, the county is also full of unique period houses which will make your big day luxurious and unforgettable. Trudder Lodge Wedding Venue is in the middle of Wicklow with easy access to Dublin (only 25 minutes). But as you turn into the driveway, it’s like you landed in a completely different world!
The Vibe at Trudder Lodge
The beautiful period house is still lived in outside of the wedding season, so the atmosphere is welcoming and authentic. The house feels relaxed and warm, perfect for a wedding party of up to 140 people. But even if you have fewer guests, it’s the perfect size. The bedrooms upstairs are fit for a king and queen. The downstairs is the perfect spot for your drinks reception if the day turns out chilly or rainy. There are gorgeous drawing rooms and gorgeous mirrors everywhere creating amazing light. The creative chandeliers stole my heart!
On a warm day the gardens shine like nowhere else. Trudder Lodge Wedding Venue hosts weddings from April through to October, and the gardens are perfect for any time of year. Fiery rhododendrons and romantic bluebells welcome you in spring. Summer is full of roses and greenery. in autumn the whole house is covered with orange and red ivy – how idyllic does this sound?
Wedding Ceremony at Trudder Lodge
With vast grounds and lots of picturesque corners, finding a beautiful ceremony spot is no problem. It’s picking one that’s hard! The walled garden with its little stream and fairy doors is a lovely choice. On a sunny day you could pick a shaded area underneath century-old trees. But then there’s always the option of an indoor ceremony – Irish weather can be unpredictable. The Garden Room at Trudder Lodge completely stole my heart. It’s a romantic rustic paradise underneath wooden beams and skylights, with a view out into the luscious garden. Imagine saying I Do with that view!
Wedding Reception at Trudder Lodge
With amazing grounds and beautiful gardens, there’s no shortage of space to have your wedding reception. On a warm day drinks and canapes are usually served on the terraced lawn at the back of the house, surrounded by spectacular rhododendrons in spring or colourful ivy in autumn. You can take your family photographs, enjoy fresh air and sunshine. If you do feel like retreating into the house the gorgeous period rooms are perfect for some mingling and relaxing.
When it comes to dinner, intimate weddings of up to 30 people can take place in the house, but the beautiful marquee outside can seat up to 140 guests. As with everything about Trudder Lodge, it’s not a simple marquee. It is surrounded by stone walls of the original stables and Georgian courtyard. Like with everything else about your big day, you can personalize your reception down to a T. Have your tables set in whatever style you’d like. Pick from a panel of caterers to create your wedding menu. You can go as lavish and formal as you want, or have a garden barbecue!
Wedding Photos at Trudder Lodge
As a period house with stunning grounds, there’s no shortage of gorgeous backdrops for your wedding photos. On a wet day there are plenty of beautiful rooms you can use indoors (including the bright ceremony room, perfect for your family photographs). The gardens, of course, are an absolute gem. From spring-blooming rhododendrons, to lush foliage in summer, to the most stunning crimson Boston ivy in autumn, Trudder Lodge is absolutely stunning in any season.
