Like many other couples in 2020, Elaine and Joe had to make quite a lot of changes to their original wedding plans! Getting married during a pandemic when one of you is from another country is anything but easy.
Elaine and Joe say they’ve always wanted a country wedding but it wasn’t practical with all the restrictions. However, the Anglers Rest (and surrounding area) is about as “country” as you can get without leaving Dublin so it’s a good middle ground. And since they ended up getting married so close to the city centre, they decided to combine both! They had their morning in the cool and chic Hard Rock Hotel on Dame St, had their first look in the historic Dublin Castle, got married in the awe-inspiring City Hall and then went on to enjoy a gorgeous evening walk in Phoenix Park with their reception at the Anglers Rest.
After the two postponements Elaine and Joe were worried that some of the “magic” might have been lost and that we’d just remember the stress of it all. However, as they got closer to the date, they started to get excited again and wanted to make sure that everything – including the day itself – is as relaxing as possible. The most important thing was that 30 of their closest family and friends were able to travel – many of whom from overseas – to be with them on their special day.
