Rachel and Niall’s gorgeous celebration at Trudder Lodge wasn’t always going to happen. After their fateful meeting in Vegas over 10 years ago and all the amazing trips they’ve taken together, it was only natural to plan a destination wedding in the heat of Marbella, Spain. Covid had other ideas.

After their original date came and went and the end of lockdown was nowhere to be seen, the couple decided to have a different celebration – closer to home, with all their friends and family. They came across gorgeous Trudder Lodge in Wicklow, and like by miracle the venue had their preferred date as one of the few remaining days left!

In the end, the day itself couldn’t have gone better. Rachel, Niall and their families arrived early in the morning to enjoy the full day without any interruptions. Trudder Lodge has several ceremony spaces, all of them stunning. The early September weather was absolutely perfect, so the couple went with their Plan A and got wed in the private Walled Garden. And at the end of the ceremony was the best wedding exit I’ve seen in a long long time! Rachel and Niall got little sachets of biodegradable confetti with instructions for the guests. They also asked their amazing celebrant Romy McAuley to remind everyone about the confetti just at the end of the ceremony. That’s the key! White confetti petals look absolutely amazing against the natural green background of an outdoor ceremony.

After a heartwarming ceremony, a drinks reception and al fresco speeches we had a lovely walk around the grounds of Trudder Lodge among its magnificent trees. I kid you not, they have some of the most gorgeous trees in all of Wicklow!
