the dean hotel wedding dublin harcourt st

Probably one of the quirkiest and coolest hotels in Dublin city centre, the Dean is the perfect wedding venue for an intimate celebration. It occupies a period Georgian building on the iconic Harcourt Street so while the space is quite contemporary it also feels classic and luxurious. The hotel is full of 80s-style details, neon signs, bold colours and creative lighting and such a great space if you’re looking for something alternative! As the Dean Hotel say themselves, “The Dean Dublin doesn’t do conventional. We do fun, cool and comfortable”.

      Staying at the Dean Hotel

There are a lot of different spaces you can use on your wedding day. There are 51 bedrooms for your morning, all stylishly decorated and boasting large windows for natural light. The spacious Penthouse suite even has its own game space and a foosball table!

      The Dean Hotel Wedding Reception

Sophie’s rooftop bar has amazing views of urban Dublin on the outdoor terrace, perfect for an al fresco drinks reception.

And then there’s the gorgeous Blue Room, ideal for both your ceremony and candlelit dinner. It can seat 80 guests for the ceremony and up to 60 guests for a stylish dinner party.

      The Blue Room

The Blue Room is a space consisting of two adjacent rooms with a partition in the middle, perfect to create an even more intimate space for smaller groups. Dimmable lighting helps to change the atmosphere at literally the tips of your fingers – from a brightly lit reception to a cosy candlelit evening. It has its own private bar and even two small balconies!

Couples normally use the Blue Room for their wedding ceremony which can be turned from theatre style to banquet style for dinner. Often though the Dean Hotel is a more popular venue for the evening reception so you can hold your ceremony elsewhere in the city. The University Church and the Unitarian Church on St Stephen’s Green are just a 5 min walk while Dublin City Hall is a 15 min walk.

Because of how unusual and versatile the space is, the Dean Hotel doesn’t offer standard wedding packages – every offer is bespoke to the couple and their plans. Just get in touch with them to have a chat about your vision!

      Where to Take Wedding Photos

The location of the Dean Hotel is definitely one of its strong points. Located on Harcourt Street, just across from Iveagh Gardens, it’s really close to all the cool spots in the city centre. So when it comes to finding photo locations you are absolutely spoilt for choice! Whether it’s doing a first look in the privacy of Iveagh Gardens, taking a stroll through Dublin City Centre or hiring a car and hitting a few different spots around town, you’ll get to feature your favourite city in the photos.

A lot of my couples choose a Dublin City wedding because of the connection they feel to it. I always encourage you to think of some meaningful locations – if your relationship grew in Dublin you’re most likely to have a few spots in mind! It might be a pub where you met, a stroll through St Stephen’s Green to remind you of all the city dates, or your favourite coffee shop you’d go to for brunch. Revisiting those places on your wedding day will only reinforce the memories and create another special connection so you can feel the butterflies every time you go back!
