If you’re looking for the most striking surroundings for the most exciting day of your lives it would be hard to find a more magnificent venue than Luttrellstown Castle. And can you even believe that this incredible Gothic castle and one of the best wedding venues in Ireland is within Dublin itself, just 20 minutes from the city centre and the airport? Surrounded by an 567-acre estate with an expansive golf course and magnificent trees, it’s the type of place you’d expect to see in a movie or a magazine feature. It’s no wonder that stylish Victoria Beckham chose it as her dream wedding venue in 1999!

But although Luttrellstown Castle is impossibly luxurious and grand, the venue still feels cosy and intimate – perfect, in fact, to surround yourself with all your favourite people and say those oh-so-important words to your partner.

      Weddings Large and Small

One of the unique and wonderful features of Luttrellstown Castle is that it’s an exclusive wedding venue which means that you’ll have the whole place to yourself. And if you think that such a grand castle wouldn’t suit a small party it’s not true at all. The ornately decorated rooms are luxurious but feel quite intimate at the same time, and there are lots of  opportunities to connect spaces through double doors or close them up for a cosier feel.

It also means that you won’t be limited by your guest numbers if your dream is to get married in a castle. Luttrellstown Castle happily accommodates weddings of any size, be it 20 or 180. There is a minimum requirement of 100 guests for Friday and Saturday weddings in May-October and December, but during the other months or mid-week you can enjoy a family celebration.

      The Space at Luttrellstown Castle

Having Luttrellstown Castle to yourself is absolutely wonderful but also creates a difficulty: which of its showstopping rooms do you use for your ceremony and wedding feast? The castle interiors have been carefully restored to its original 15th century glory, and with the ornate furniture and exquisite art, the rooms need very little additional decor.

The main banquet hall is the Van Stry Ballroom which will definitely take your breath away as soon as you walk in. It comfortably seats 120 people for dinner but feels just as intimate for a feast of 30. Next to it is a more intimate Kentian Room boasting beautiful tapestries and an open fire. It seats an extra 60 people for dinner, so you could combine the two rooms and have a party of 180 guests. It’s also a popular room for indoor wedding ceremonies, seating up to 100 people.

For larger ceremonies you can say your vows in the stunning Gothic Hall (seating up to 130 people) or on the grounds in good weather with the fairytale backdrop of the castle.

My favourite room of Luttrellstown has to be the library. Complete with inviting leather Chesterfield sofas, a secret bookshelf door and a view onto the private gardens at the back of the castle, it’s the perfect cosy drinks reception or relaxing evening space.

      Luttrellstown Castle Accommodation and Cost

How could you possibly get married in a castle and not spend the night there? The incredible bedrooms are certainly part of the appeal, and with exclusive castle hire your closest friends and family can also enjoy this unique experience. Each one of the castle’s 20 bedrooms (sleeping up to 50 guests) is uniquely decorated with history in mind but also providing modern comforts. You also get incredible views from each and every window – quite something to wake up to!

The exclusive hire of the castle and its bedrooms is €7900 (including breakfast), with wedding menus starting from €200 per person.

      What About the Photographs?

After reading the above you can probably imagine you won’t have a problem finding photo opportunities at Luttrellstown Castle!

The problem might be choosing between all the different spots. The grounds are so enchanting and the rooms so magnificent you’ll probably want to take photos everywhere. It’s a good problem to have – it means that the weather won’t get in the way.
